A comparative study on control theories for generation of reference currents in active power filters
Generation of reference currents in active power filter using various algorithms plays significant role in giving compensation performance. There are number of algorithms used for this. In the talk, the speaker will highlight various control theories and formulations used to generate the reference currents for the active power filter. Three popular control algorithms are: pq, dq and instantaneous symmetrical components with their own pros and cons. Their comparative study including theoretical as well as practical aspects will be presented. More insight and clarity will be brought into discussion by illustrating the concepts with the help of simple examples.
Biography:
Mahesh Kumar Mishra (S’2000-M’02-SM’10) was born in village Chounsra of
district Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh in July 1967. He received his Bachelor of
Technology from College of Technology, Pantnagar, India and M.E. from
University of Roorkee, India in 1991 and 1993 respectively. In Feb. 2002, he
received the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of
Technology, Kanpur, India.
He has teaching and research experience of about 18 years. For about
10 year, he was a faculty in Electrical Engineering Department, Visvesvaraya
National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, India. Currently, he is a
Professor in Electrical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of
Technology Madras, India. His interests are in the areas of Power
Distribution Systems, Power Electronics and its Application in Power System.
Dr. Mahesh is life member of Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE).
