Space Radar Analysis
Imagine—running Artificial Intelligence processing on an image of a military complex generated on a cold, dark, and rainy night. A critical target of interest is discovered hidden under tree foliage. The critical target is mobile and starts to drive down the road, leaving the military complex with an unknown destination accompanied by a suite of support vehicles. It is vital to maintain track and discriminate the high-value target from the support vehicles. Track Custody and situational awareness in this scenario are crucial.
Biography:
David Carey is a Research Scientist and Associate Fellow in the Advanced Processing and Exploitation
(APEX) Radar Solutions group within Lockheed Martin Space Systems company. He has a background in
signal processing algorithms and systems analysis with applications in Signals Intelligence (SIGINT),
Video/Image Signal Processing, Computer Vision, and Remote Radar Sensing in all domains ranging from
ground and air to space. Dave Carey provides expertise in analysis, algorithms, and architecture
performance related to Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Moving Target Indication (MTI), and Track, High
Range Resolution (HRR), multi-statics and Electronic Warfare. He is passionate about the missions he
supports and looks forward to sharing this passion with the IEEE/SPS and AOC communities to educate
and energize others.
