Women of Impact: Leaders from Diverse Fields of AI
On the occasion of Women in Engineering (WIE) week, the IEEE HITAM Student Branch-Women in Engineering Affinity Group organized an inspiring and unique event. The highlight of the celebration was a one-of-a-kind panel discussion featuring esteemed women from diverse backgrounds, including politics, entrepreneurship, academia, police service, the air force, and social work. These distinguished panelists shared their experiences and insights, showcasing the power and potential of women in various fields.
Additionally, the event featured a presentation about the remarkable Dr. Arutla Kamaladevi, a revered teacher, leader, and freedom fighter. Her legacy and contributions were brought to life, inspiring all attendees. The event also included an empowering speech by one of our female NCC cadets, who recounted her memorable experience of participating in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.
This celebration not only honored the achievements of women in engineering but also inspired everyone to continue striving for excellence and making meaningful contributions to society.

Jhansi Reddy Hanumandla

Jhansi Reddy Hanumandla is a distinguished NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist from Choppakatlapalem, Khammam, Telangana, India. Since moving to the US in 1977, she, along with her husband, Dr. Hanumandla Rajender Reddy, a cardiologist, has made notable contributions to real estate and healthcare. In 1992, they co-founded a real estate business, with Jhansi Reddy serving as the CEO. The couple is profoundly involved in philanthropy, especially in Telangana, through the Hanumandla Rajender & Jhansi Reddy Foundation, focusing on education, healthcare, and development projects. Their efforts have significantly impacted the region, earning them respect and recognition in both the US and India.
Sirisha Raghavendra

Sirisha Raghavendra, an IPS officer in Telangana, has significantly contributed to enhancing women's safety and empowerment through her role as Additional DCP for the SHE Teams. With a background in electronics and communication engineering and professional experience in Europe, she transitioned to police service, bringing a unique blend of technical and leadership skills. Her work with the SHE Teams has been pivotal in using data to address and reduce sexual harassment in Hyderabad, making the city safer for women. Beyond her police duties, she has also been involved in recognizing and celebrating women's achievements, as evident from her role in the Diamond Nari Puraskar 2022 event, which honored 118 women achievers across various sectors. Sirisha Raghvendra's multifaceted contributions showcase her commitment to not only law enforcement but also societal change and women empowerment.
Wing Commander Asha Jyothirmai

Biography:
Wing Commander Asha Jyothirmai, a pioneer in Indian skydiving, began her journey with a passion for the sky and a dream to soar. Commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1997, she has since achieved remarkable feats. As India's leading woman skydiver, she holds the record for the highest number of jumps (969). Noteworthy accomplishments include being the first Indian woman to skydive from a Microlight Aircraft and leading the first Indian Women Services Team at the World Military Parachuting Championship. She received the Women in Aviation Award in 2019 and has trained numerous skydivers, inspiring youth and women to join the defense forces and embrace adventure. Her recent jump from 10,000 feet in Bangladesh with the Indian Tricolour is a testament to her courage and dedication.

Born out of a desire to fill a gap in the Indian market for such products, Midhula, alongside her partner and husband Mr. Viswanadh Kandula, conceptualized Mivi in 2015. Mivi has since established itself as a notable player in the consumer wearables and electronics industry, known for its made-in-India products. Mivi has grown significantly, providing employment to around 1500 people. Mamidala Yashaswini Reddy

Mamidala Yashaswini Reddy, a member of the Indian National Congress, is a dynamic and young leader who was elected as the MLA from Palakurthi, Telangana, in the 2023 Legislative Assembly elections. She stands out as the second youngest MLA in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. Yashaswini Reddy's election signifies a new wave of youthful leadership in the state's politics.
