Abstract:

Signal processing of the information collected from the digital and physical worlds is critical for exploiting it to develop practical applications. In this talk, signal processing principles on images will be introduced first, which mainly focus on enhancing the resolution and quality of the images collected from foggy and low-light scenes. Then, the applications of image signal processing and AI in fake news detection for social media, action evaluation for physical training, human-machine interaction, and classification of marine plankton, segmentation, and fusion of medical images will be presented. The impact of these applications on our understanding of our own body, digital and physical surroundings will be discussed, based on which the potential corresponding improvements will be clarified. Finally, some future works on signal processing and AI for social and natural science will be discussed.
