In this webinar, we will discuss the newly released ISO standard, ISO/IEC 42001: Artificial Intelligence Management System and its impact on the governance of AI. We will go over the context of the standard, it’s objectives, and the new framework it sets to help organizations build a responsible AI practice, develop an ethical practice, and build a long-term AI strategy.

We will also address implications of the EU AI Act on U.S technology companies, and the impact of the EU Act on the issue of conformity assessment and standardization. Finally, we will discuss linkages between 42001 and the NIST Risk Management Framework, and go over the state of federal and local government AI regulations in the U.S

Dr. Sid Ahmed Benraouane is a thought leader and expert in digital transformation, technology policy, and government innovation. He is a member expert of the U.S. ISO working group tasked with the development of the new ISO Required Standard on Artificial Intelligence, ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Artificial Intelligence Management System as well as others on risk management, governance, and accreditation.

Dr. Benraouane has published many books on innovation, digital transformation, and technology policy. In his latest book “AI Management System Certification According to the ISO/IEC 42001 Standard: How to Audit, Certify, and Build Responsible AI Systems,” Dr. Benraouane provides a step-by-step planning process on how to build a trustworthy AI management system. In this book, Dr. Benraouane also offers an AI Maturity Assessment framework that helps business leaders audit their algorithms and certify their AI governance practices against known AI International Standards such as ISO, IEC, and NIST Standards.

Dr. Benraouane teaches digital transformation and advises MENA Governments on innovation, digital transformation, and technology implementation. He is a speaker at the World Government Summit (UAE), BAIDEC/MEMTEC conference (Bahrain), Big Data and Cloud Show (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), and World Mobility and Autonomous Driving Conference (UAE).
