Invited talk: Navigating the US power and energy industry as Woman In Power: a technical journey from academia to the utilities

Speaker: Dr Elli Ntakou

Elli is the Manager of System Resilience and Reliability Planning at Eversource Energy. In her role, she is responsible for implementing an enterprise-wide, model- and data-driven strategy for resilience and reliability planning to mitigate and adapt to climate change and to enable a modern, digital, resilient and decarbonized electric grid. Prior to that, Elli was a Senior Advisor with Quanta Technology where she was consulting a variety of clients on a breadth of technical areas like power markets, non-wires alternatives, grid modernization, integrated planning and electric assets’ M&As. Elli graduated from Boston University with a PhD in Systems Engineering in 2017 and has a Diploma of Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in Greece. Elli is the IEEE PES Women in Power for 2024 and also serves as a reviewer in multiple IEEE conferences and journals.

Speaker: Dr. Harivardhagini Subhadra 

Dr. S. Harivardhagini is working at CVR College of Engg. Hyderabad since 2005. She is currently the Professor and Head of EIE Dept. Dr. S. Harivardhagini completed Ph.D in Electrical  Engineering from JNTUH. An active researcher with 20+ years of experience at several prestigious research institutions. She has over 30 publications in various journals and conferences. She has received BEST PAPER AWARD at IEEE International Conference on Control system, Computing and Engineering (ICCSCE ). She has been awarded with UNIVERSITY BRONZE MEDAL at Post Graduate, SATHYABAMA UNIVERSITY. She has received AICTE (ALL INDIA COUNCIL OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION) grants upto 16 Lakhs. She is a senior IEEE Member. She is the EVENT LEAD of IEEE PES WiP and the Coordinator of IEEE PES R10 WiP. She is also the Chair of WIE, IEEE Hyderabad section and the Co Chair of Philanthropic  Initiatives Adhoc Committee of WIE.
