Biography:
Michael Hess is the SVP of Product Engineering at OrganOx, an organ transplant technology company, Editor in Chief of the IEEE Biomedical Society Pulse Magazine, and adjunct professor in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota.
Prior to these positions he was employed at Medtronic for over three decades, holding various positions at the company. Medtronic develops, manufactures, and sells device-based medical therapies to healthcare systems, physicians, clinicians, and patients worldwide. Most recently he served as Vice President Corporate Technology and Innovation at Medtronic.
As Vice President Corporate Technology, he led center-based technology org focused on platform technologies, preclinical research, knowledge and collaboration, quality in R&D design, enterprise technology initiatives and product stewardship. He also led cardiac business focused R&D teams and organizations and served as General Manager for two business units. He is a member of the Medtronic Bakken Society (highest technical recognition), as well as an AIMBE fellow.
