IEEE VTS Philadelphia Chapter Meeting

The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) Philadelphia Chapter is invited to join the Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers for a professional presentation on An Overview of the Philadelphia Zoning Process for Engineers by Meredith L. Ferleger, Esq., Dilworth Paxson, LLP.

Securing entitlements for a project in Philadelphia requires interaction with a variety of stakeholders throughout the process, including pre-requisite review agencies, permitting departments, City Council members, and local communities. Project Engineers are frequently called on to provide critical support to the project team, which may include the developer, architects, attorneys and other consultants with the common goal to see the project to fruition.  If a variance is required, the Engineering team is relied upon to provide crucial information on the project’s impacts concerning noise, traffic, environmental issues, and other “non-zoning” related aspects of the project that are important to address while working with numerous stakeholders throughout the process.  Join Meredith L. Ferleger, Esq. of Dilworth Paxson LLP on September 4th for a discussion surrounding the Philadelphia zoning process and learn of how the engineering team may assist to shepherd the project from the first filing to the issuance of a Zoning Permit.

There is no charge for meeting attendance, only for PDH certificates.  The PDH certificate is provided through the Philadelphia Chapter of PSPE, not the IEEE.  PSPE believes the “course” will be accepted for credit in PA, NJ, and other National Model states where courses do not required pre-approval.  This course has not been certified for credit in the State of NY.  No payment to the IEEE or evaluation form on the VTS website is required.

Meredith Ferleger of Dilworth Paxson, LLP

Biography:

As Chair of Dilworth’s Zoning & Land Use Group, Meredith Ferleger focuses on zoning, land use and transactional real estate law, representing residential, commercial, financial, and institutional clients. She has extensive experience navigating the development process in Philadelphia and surrounding municipalities including interacting with various municipal agencies and government stakeholders.  Meredith routinely seeks approval from the Zoning Board of Adjustment, suburban Zoning Hearing Boards, and other municipal approval boards. She has assisted in the formation of several condominiums and Planned Unit Developments. She has also pursued and defended appeals to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas of land use approvals involving landmark legal principles.

Additionally, Meredith counsels buyers and sellers of commercial real estate, and she endeavors to help her clients navigate all aspects of the land development process from acquisition, development, and taxation to eventual disposition.  Furthermore, Meredith routinely pursues real estate tax appeals resulting in the reduction in millions of dollars of assessed property value. She has also represented residential and commercial landlords throughout the City to comply with licensing and disclosure requirements as well as seeking tenant evictions through Municipal Court.

Meredith is a graduate of the Villanova University School of Law and School of Business where she earned her joint Law and Master of Business Administration degrees. She earned joint Bachelor of Science degrees from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.  Meredith is also active politically, serving as the appointed Solicitor to the Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office and holding elected office as a Commissioner in Upper Dublin Township.
