Dallas CVT September 2024 update
Dallas IEEE Communication and or Vehicular Society member,
I am sending you this email as the current Chair of the Dallas CVT (your local IEEE section) with a short update.
We resume our regular section meetings soon and remain centered around technical talks. These meetings are again in person and are held at 12:00 PM in the third Tuesday of the month during the months of September to December, and January to May, except as noted. We continue to hold our meetings on the University of Texas at Dallas campus, https://www.utdallas.edu/.
As in the past, lunch is planned (while the menu varies, this is a ‘hot meal’).
We request an RSVP via the IEEE vTools to reserve a meal (we have to pre-order, an accurate head count is necessary). You can also pay via vTools!
Using the link at the bottom of this email, please pre-register if you plan on having lunch. The lunch order must go in at Noon the Friday prior to the meeting.
Our board works hard to arrange the technical speakers for these meetings, and we invite our members to attend whenever their schedule allows. The website below is active and reflects our current and past speakers.

Abstract: Large corporations often have the means to hire dedicated patent resources and employ patent attorneys to define and protect their intellectual property. However small entities, startups and individual inventors of modest means often don't have the same financial resources at their disposal. In this discussion, Mr. Silver will discuss his experience in developing and filing, protecting and licensing intellectual property, including patents and trademarks at large enterprises, small companies and as a private entrepreneur. As part of the discussion, Mr. Silver will discuss the 2018 Supreme Court of Texas ruling "In re Silver" in which the privilege between a patent agent and their client has been recognized.
Bio: Andrew Silver is an experienced Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, entrepreneur and inventor in mobile communications, vehicular and information technology. He is the founder of multiple startup companies and author of over 100 patents. Mr. Silver is an IEEE Senior member, CVT Board member and holds an MBA and B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
