PhilEnergy 2024 formerly known as RE EE Philippines and was rebranded as PhilEnergy in 2023 edition, co-located with WaterPhilippines. The aim of PhilEnergy is to foster the development of innovative renewable solutions that will shape the energy industry in the Philippines. IEEE Philippine Section supported the conference by the following events:

  1. As conference guest speaker on the opening day of the conference
  2. Dedicate one session on the 3rd day of the conference for the IEEE Philippines Section with the topic, entitled, "Electronics-dominated Power System with High Penetration of Renewable Energy"
  3. IEEE Philippines Section was provided a dedicated booth for its promotion

Topic:

Electronics-dominated Power System with High Penetration of Renewable Energy

The emergence of an electronics-dominated power system with a significant share of renewable energy is pivotal for addressing the challenges posed by the variability of renewable sources. Power electronics enable efficient integration, control, and stability management, ensuring a reliable grid despite fluctuations. Additionally, these technologies facilitate the integration of energy storage, support demand response strategies, and enhance transmission efficiency through HVDC and FACTS systems. The decentralized nature of microgrids, coupled with power electronics, contributes to local energy resilience. Furthermore, electrification of transportation, facilitated by power electronics, creates opportunities for vehicle-to-grid interactions, enhancing overall grid stability. In this talk, an overview of the emerging power system is presented based on the current literature and best practices.
