This is a public tour, and the stops on the tour will include a visit to the Nuclear Energy Exhibit Hall, Advanced Photon Source and either a stop at ATLAS or the Aurora Reveal based on availability.
There is no charge for this event, but registration is required and a pass will be issued to all attendees.

Arriving To The LaboratoryWhen arriving at the Laboratory, we are located at South Cass Avenue & Northgate Road, Lemont, Illinois - from I-55 take exit 273A (South Cass Avenue) to Northgate Road (main entrance); follow Northgate Road to the Argonne Welcome Center (this is the building on the right-hand side before the entry gates – please do not proceed to the gates). Note: Northgate Road is approximately ¼ mile from I-55. (Best not to follow GPS once on Cass Avenue, as it usually takes people to our old entrance further south.)
Please meet at the Argonne Welcome Center (Building 224) at 8:50am to allow time for gate pass processing and getting ready for your tour. The tour will start promptly at 9:00am and we are unable to wait more than 5 minutes as we have a tight schedule for tours.
A REAL ID compliant identification will be required to gain access to Argonne National Laboratory for individuals 18 years of age or older. Here is a list of acceptable forms of photo identification and requirements: www.anl.gov/site-entry-
- All visitors, 16 and older, must present a state or federal photo I.D., such as a driver’s license or passport to be issued a gate pass.
- Visitors should register their name as it appears on their photo I.D. If your legal first name differs from your preferred first name, please email us at tours@anl.gov so we can update our records.
- There is an approval process for non-U.S. citizens, including legal permanent residents, that can take up to five to seven business days. Copies of INS documents, such as permanent resident card or passport, visa, and any supporting documents, if applicable, can be uploaded directly in the visitor registration form.
- Answer all mandatory questions and submit the form.
- Please note required tour attire: long pants and flat, closed-toe shoes; no sandals, no sleeveless shirts.
