The PES Poster Event 2024, theme "Empowering the Future: Innovation in Power and Energy", will take place on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the SIT-NYP Level 1 Foyer, located at 172 Ang Mo Kio Ave 8, Singapore 567739. This event is organized by the IEEE Power & Energy Society Singapore Chapter, in collaboration with the SIT IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter.

The symposium aims to bring together leading figures from both academia and industry to share insights on the latest trends in power and energy innovation. The event will feature:

Accelerating Innovation in Renewable Energy and Industrial Systems with MATLAB & Simulink

In this session, Dr. Kishore Kanamarlapudi, Industry Manager for Energy, Industrial Automation & Machinery, Medical Devices, and Bio-Pharma at MathWorks, will discuss the transformative role of MATLAB & Simulink in driving innovation across key industry segments. Leveraging his extensive experience in AIoT-Energy, grid modernization, power electronics, electric vehicles (EV), and renewable technologies, Dr. Kishore will highlight how MATLAB & Simulink enable engineers and scientists to streamline system development and verification.

Application of AI to Distribution Asset Sensing and Analytics

In this presentation, Dr. Kai Xian Lai, Principal Engineer II of Asset Sensing & Analytics at SP PowerGrid (SPPG), will delve into the transformative application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing distribution asset sensing and analytics. Drawing from his extensive expertise in high voltage engineering, machine learning, and condition monitoring, Dr. Lai will showcase how AI-driven techniques can be employed to monitor and predict the health of medium voltage (MV) assets, thereby improving reliability and reducing operational risks.

With over a decade of experience, including industry roles in mining and power generation projects, Dr. Lai will discuss practical use cases and the integration of advanced AI methodologies for asset management. Attendees will gain insights into the latest developments in condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and how AI is reshaping the landscape of distribution networks for enhanced grid performance.
