VIRTUALIZATION IN CLOUD COMPUTING
On October 1, 2024, the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) in collaboration with the IEEE Computer Society hosted a talk on "Virtualization Using Cloud Technology" at Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology. The event was organized on the occasion of IEEE Day, marking the global celebration of innovation in technology and its power to connect the world.The guest speaker, Ms. Akshita Parekh, Scientific Officer-E from the Computer Division at NFC Hyderabad, delivered an insightful session focused on virtualization, a key component driving the future of cloud computing. During the talk, she elaborated on how virtualization allows multiple operating systems to run on a single physical system, thus maximizing hardware efficiency and reducing costs. She also discussed various cloud technologies and how virtualization is a backbone for enhancing flexibility, scalability, and security in the cloud infrastructure.The event saw a participation of 28 attendees. After the engaging session, there was a lively Q&A, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate IEEE Day. This gathering not only provided a platform for learning but also for networking among the IEEE members and participants. The event was concluded with warm thanks to Ms. Akshita Parekh and the organizers for their efforts in making it an informative occasion.
