Cyber Security is an Application of Decision Sciences
Cyber Security is an Application of Decision Sciences or Why Every Cyber Security Dept Needs a Decision Scientist
Cyber has become a big topic. Cyber security may be the new battlefront. The news is covered with stories of this or that company or agency being hacked and the information being for sale on the dark web. It affects business, military, medical, and many forms of life.
This presentation gives an overview of what is cyber security and how it is managed. The theory behind the programming is explained covering the concepts of why and how. This is done from the perspective of a decision scientist and programming is not discussed. Many examples are given to demonstrate the concepts.

Dr Brad Morantz
Cyber Security is an Application of Decision Sciences
Biography:
Dr Morantz, a Senior Life member of the IEEE and member of the Computer and the Computational Intelligence Societies, researches methods to improve our decision making. His most recent work is in intelligent classification utilizing machine cognition. The goal is to understand how pattern recognition and cognitive function are accomplished in the biological world and then to be able to implement this in the machine environment in order to improve the quality of our decision making.
Dr Morantz has his BS in CIS/EE, his MS and PhD in Mathematical Decision Science with a minor in computer science and an emphasis in artificial intelligence. He has taken additional courses in Computational BioScience, statistics, and the sciences in general. He also has over 150 hours from Raytheon Learning Institute as well as numerous other continuing education courses.
Dr Morantz has given many presentations on advanced methodologies around the country and is currently on the editorial board of the International Journal of Data Mining, Modelling, and Management. He also has many publications in this area as well.
