IEEE Day 2024
IEEE Day 2024 featured insights from our IEEE chapters (WIE, CS, PES, RAS, IAS) and a special session from IEEE Xtreme Ambassador Heshan Kodithuwakku to raise awareness about the Xtreme coding competition. The event also included interactive games, quizzes, and prizes for winners, ensuring a fun and engaging experience. This event was held to inspire students and professionals, celebrate IEEE’s achievements, and strengthen our community at SLIIT.

Mr. Sachintha Wickramasinghe
IEEE for Beginners
Mr. Sachintha Wickramasinghe delivered an insightful and informative session titled 'IEEE for Dummies,' as a guide for new volunteers of IEEE. Mr. Wickramasinghe provided an engaging introduction to IEEE for beginners, covering the basics of IEEE, the importance of volunteering, and its benefits.
He also highlighted past events conducted by the SLIIT Student Branch, sharing key milestones and experiences that have fostered the growth of the branch. His talk was not only informative but also motivational, emphasizing the personal and professional development opportunities available through active participation in IEEE. Attendees gained a clearer understanding of IEEE's mission, how to get involved, and how SLIIT's IEEE chapter contributes to the student community. The session was well-received for its practicality and clarity, helping participants appreciate the value of IEEE membership and volunteering.
Biography:
Mr. Sachintha Wickramasinghe is a TechOps Engineer at IFS and a passionate IEEE volunteer. He currently serves as the Vice Chair of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section’s Technical Activities Subcommittee (2023) and was the Secretary of the SLIIT IEEE Student Branch (2022/23). With a strong background in tech and leadership, he is known for organizing impactful events, mentoring students, and promoting volunteering within the IEEE community.
