CMRU’s IEEE Day was a remarkable convergence of theoretical science and aerospace technology, underscoring the future of scientific innovation. The seminar began with the Chair of IEEE CMRU Student Branch welcoming attendees and reflecting on IEEE’s mission to drive technology for humanity.

- Encouraging Research and Paper Writing: The university’s Dean of Academics encouraged students to pursue research by leveraging IEEE’s digital resources. Speakers underscored the critical role of IEEE’s research papers in developing new technologies. They urged students to contribute their research, enhancing aerospace technology through theoretical advancements.
- IEEE’s Historical Role in Aerospace Progress: The event also reflected on IEEE’s contributions to the aerospace sector since its founding in 1884. Speakers highlighted how IEEE’s technical standards have governed the industry, ensuring reliability and safety in aerospace technology development.
- Collaboration and Networking: The seminar emphasized the opportunities IEEE offers for cross-disciplinary collaboration and global networking, which are vital for students aiming to enter the aerospace field. Faculty members encouraged students to use IEEE’s platform to collaborate on innovative projects and deepen their scientific knowledge.

Dr. Divakar DS is a highly experienced professional serving as a Senior Consultant and Scientist-D at the Mission Control Center, situated in the prestigious Peenya Industrial Estate, Bengaluru. With extensive expertise in aerospace and satellite communication, Dr. Divakar has played a pivotal role in managing critical operations at the Mission Control Center, where precision, coordination, and cutting-edge technology are at the forefront.
His leadership and in-depth knowledge have contributed significantly to India's space missions, focusing on mission planning, satellite control, and operational excellence. His role involves overseeing key aspects of satellite launches, ensuring smooth coordination between teams, and addressing the technical challenges faced during complex missions.
A recognized figure in the scientific community, Dr. Divakar brings over two decades of experience in space science and technology. His contribution to advancements in satellite control systems has been instrumental in propelling India's space exploration capabilities to new heights.

Encouraging Research and Paper Writing: The Dean of the University spoke about the importance of writing and research, encouraging students to utilize IEEE’s vast digital library to drive innovation. He also congratulated Dr. Rubini P, the Head of the CSE department, for her article titled "EdTech Innovations that Could Transform Special Education" published in The Hindu on October 06, 2024. In her article, Dr. Rubini emphasized the power of integrating EdTech with traditional methods to help students reach their full potential. The Dean encouraged students to follow her example, highlighting the value of contributing to the academic and technological community.
Biography:
Dr. Kannan Natarajan is an esteemed academician with a wealth of experience spanning over three decades in higher education and research. He currently serves as Professor, Dean of Lakeside Campus, and Director of School of Engineering and Technology at CMR University, Bengaluru, a position he has held since July 2024.
Before joining CMR University, Dr. Kannan Natarajan served as the Professor and Principal at The Oxford College of Engineering, Bengaluru, from March 2021. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the academic framework and driving innovation in teaching and learning at the institution.
From September 2019 to December 2020, he held the role of Professor, Dean of Industry Relations, and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SRM IST, Ramapuram. His work focused on building strong industry connections to bridge the gap between academia and industry needs.
Dr. Kannan Natarajan’s academic journey began at Jayaram College of Engineering and Technology, where he dedicated more than two and a half decades (July 1995 to September 2019) as a Professor and Principal. His longstanding commitment to engineering education during this period laid the foundation for many successful academic and industry collaborations.
With a passion for education and a career dedicated to empowering students and faculty alike, Dr. Kannan continues to contribute to the field of engineering and technology education in India. His leadership and vast experience make him a key figure in advancing academic excellence at CMR University.
