IEEE Day 2024 Celebration: Empowering Community and Innovation
The IEEE IGDTUW Student Branch proudly hosted a two-part celebration for IEEE Day 2024, comprising an offline event at IGDTUW Campus and an online session titled "IEEE Pathways: Elevate Your Membership Experience."
This event aimed to foster a sense of community among members, create awareness about the benefits of IEEE membership, and provide valuable insights on leveraging IEEE resources effectively.
Day 1: Offline Celebrations
The offline celebration began with a cake-cutting ceremony, attended by our esteemed guest, Prof. A. K. Mohapatra, Head of the Department of IT, and an expert in cyber security, along with the student branch executive committee members. The event provided a lively atmosphere, with refreshments served to all attendees.
During the IEEE Day celebration and the in-person team meeting on 4th October 2024, the significant growth in IEEE IGDTUW Student Branch membership was proudly highlighted. The membership count surged from 56 members in the previous term to an impressive 239 this year. This remarkable increase demonstrates the growing engagement and interest in IEEE within our community.
Prof. A. K. Mohapatra delivered an inspiring speech, emphasising IEEE's pivotal role in shaping future leaders and fostering innovation. He also shared several opportunities with students in the field of cybersecurity. The session provided a fantastic opportunity for team members to connect, share ideas, and strengthen the sense of unity within the branch, further enhancing collaboration for the future.
Day 2: Online Session
The online event featured esteemed guest speaker, Mr. Ramneek Kalra, a renowned IEEE impact creator. He emphasised IEEE's pivotal role in empowering students and professionals to tackle real-world challenges. Drawing from his personal experience, he shared how developing software for his college library in his first year exemplified the impact of IEEE's resources and community.
The IEEE Day 2024 celebration reinforced the branch's commitment to nurturing a vibrant community, promoting IEEE membership benefits, and inspiring innovation among members.

Biography:
Prof. A. K. Mohapatra is the Head of the Department of IT, with a Ph.D. in IT from GGSIP University and an M.Tech from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad. His research interests include Cryptography and Cyber Security, where he has made significant contributions to the field.

Biography:
Mr. Ramneek Kalra is an IEEE Young Professional, recognized for his significant contributions to the IEEE community. As a Member of the Membership Development Committee (MDC), IEEE Delhi Section, he plays a pivotal role in fostering growth and development within the IEEE student branches. In addition, Mr. Kalra is the Vice Chair of the Delhi Section of IEEE SIGHT. He has also been a member of the IEEE R10 WIE Committee 2023. He is dedicated to encouraging students and young professionals within the IEEE community.
