Introduction to Arduino
On October 2nd, 2024, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) held an "Introduction to Arduino" workshop at Room 245, from 2 PM to 5 PM, with 30 attendees. Led by RAS Chair Amine Elkadhi and Vice-Chair for Membership Activities Eya Makni, the workshop focused on introducing participants to the basics of Arduino programming and hardware integration. Amine, with his deep knowledge of robotics and embedded systems, and Eya, an expert in microcontroller programming, guided attendees through a live demonstration.
They showcased the setup of the Arduino IDE and illustrated how to write a simple code to blink an LED. Participants learned how to connect an Arduino board to essential components like LEDs, motors, and resistors, using a practical hands-on approach. The team also introduced the H-Bridge, explaining its function in controlling motor direction, further engaging attendees in real-world applications.
After a brief coffee break, the workshop continued with practical group exercises, where participants assembled circuits and coded their own projects using Arduino boards under the mentors’ guidance. Key topics such as troubleshooting wiring issues and resolving upload errors were covered during the Q&A session. By the end of the workshop, participants left with a solid foundation in Arduino programming and circuit design. Follow-up sessions and Arduino kits were planned to help them continue exploring more advanced projects on their own.
In conclusion,The Arduino workshop equipped participants with essential skills in programming and circuit design, providing a strong foundation for future projects in robotics and automation.
