The evolution of AI over the last few decades from rule-based AI to machine learning to deep neural networks to the various flavors of deep natural networks: including convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks leading to transformers, and the large language models (LLMs). The latest advances, such as multimodal transformers, agentic framework, and the extension to robotics will also be discussed. Most importantly, the presentation will be driven by use cases that we all can relate to and appreciate the impacts of. This will be an interactive session and not a one-way presentation to make the session relevant and impactful.

Sanjoy is a strategic, mission-driven global consulting executive that serves as the fuel to power AI and digital transformation, leading enterprise leaders through a complex data led journey to enhance customer value and experience for measurable outcome at speed and scale. Through industry knowledge and suite of technology-led solutions, including Multimodal Gen AI digital platform, he empowers companies and their teams to make strategic, real-time decisions in the competitive market. Sanjoy turns AI strategy into business intelligence – connecting all the dots so companies can focus on value creation, not just day-to-day operations. From building new products and services to delivering fantastic customer experiences, he helps organizations reimagine what's possible.

Sanjoy is currently the Executive Director of Rice Nexus, the university’s premier innovation factory offering state-of-the-art facilities, guidance and mentoring for prototyping, testing, and launching new ventures by Rice faculty and students. Designed to derisk, develop, and deploy new technology, the Rice Nexus aims to bridge the gap between the university and commercial markets by fostering partnerships with key corporate, government, community and venture capital firms.

Sanjoy previously worked at Accenture LLC., Managing Director, Technology, where he reported to Global Head of Accenture Labs. Spearheaded the creation of new platforms and solutions in Gen AI, Robotics, 5G, and Digital Twin globally with teams of fifteen employees in San Francisco, and Sophia Antipolis for Accenture Technology Labs. Partnered with universities and startups creating 10 new solutions with potential downstream impact of $500+M and 5 filed patents. Managed a budget of $2.4M.

Prior to Accenture, Sanjoy worked at Rice University, Acting Executive Director, AI Houston Institute where he drove the AI Training and AI Research in the Energy, Medical and Space industry ecosystem of Houston powered by Rice. In addition, working with the community, especially the under-privileged community through NGOs like Genesys Works.

Sanjoy also served at Almawiz Inc., Chief Executive Officer. As the CEO created two new business opportunities in one year – one in Digital Auto Retailing and the other in Real Estate Lease Management, worked with the CTO and the development Team in India growing the revenue to $1M.
