The WIE IEEE JUIT SB organized an insightful online workshop titled "Innovations in Federated Learning: Python Applications & Research Exploration" from 23rd to 25th September 2024. This virtual event introduced 40 students from various engineering disciplines to the growing field of Federated Learning (FL), its practical applications, and how Python can be used to implement FL frameworks.

The two-day workshop offered a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on Python exercises. Key topics included an overview of Federated Learning, its significance in privacy-preserving AI, and the implementation of FL algorithms using Python frameworks like TensorFlow Federated and PySyft. Use cases in healthcare, finance, and IoT demonstrated FL’s real-world impact on privacy and data security.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions, where they applied FL techniques to practical problems like optimizing smart city infrastructure and securely sharing healthcare data. The event encouraged exploration of research in FL, emphasizing privacy, security, and scalability.

The workshop received positive feedback for its engaging format and practical approach, sparking interest among participants in further research and projects on Federated Learning.
