IEEE Central Texas Chapter is putting together a 2-half-day workshop that wil have a series of lectures by UT Professors and industry experts on several cutting edge technology and science topics.  These lectures are tailored for a high school audience and is intended to convey what the recent developments in several fields of engineering and science.  High school students who are considering college majors in science/engineering will benefit from the lectures, the discussion and Q&A following the lectures, meeting with the speakers, and meeting other interested high school students from the Austin area. Lunch and snacks will be provided.  There will also be opportunities to meet current UT engineering/science students who will come to mingle with the attendees.  Some of the topic areas for the lectures include nanotechnology, robotics, .....

The event is free. Space is limited and registration will close once capacity is reached. Please indicate the name of your high school in the 'Special Instruction' window during registration.

Lunch and snacks will be provided.

The Building is CPE (Chemical and Petroleum Engg. Bldg.) and the room is 2.212 200 E Dean Keeton St, Austin, TX 78712  

Paid Parking is available on Dean Keeton Street and in the UT Garages (the closest is the San Jacinto Garage: 2401 San Jacinto Boulevard).

Thanks for registering you child for the IEEE Workshop being held at UT, Austin. Here are logistics for the workshop and things to bring.

Date and Time and Location:

Day 1: Thu-Mar 16, 2017 8:00AM  - 1:00PM  CPE 2.212 (Chemical and Petroleum Engineering 2.212)

 

Drop-off and pick up of students can be most conveniently done from the loading area adjacent to the CPE building on Speedway just north of Dean Keaton St.  Parking is available is available in the Speedway Garage (see below) which is nearby.

 

Day 2: Fri-Mar 17, 2017 - 8:00 AM - 9:15 PM J.J. Research Campus, UT, Austin 10100 Burnet Road, Bld –Building 160 (also known as the MER Building), Austin, TX – 78758.  The security guard on the Burnet Road entrance will direct to the building upon request.  Drop off and pick up are free.  Parking for the duration of the event requires a paid pass that is valid only for the JJ Pickle Research Campus.  The security guard will indicate where to obtain parking passes.

Day 2: Fri-Mar 17, 2017 - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM CPE 2.212 (Chemical and Petroleum Engineering 2.212)

Note 1: All of the Day 1 lectures will be help at the UT, Austin Main Campus at the CPE 2.212 (Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Building, Room 2.212)

Note 2: On Day 2, We will tour the Micro Electronics Lab at the JJ Pickle Research Center first – from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM and then resume the lectures at 10:00 AM at the main campus at the CPE 2.212 (Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Bldg, Room 2.212). Parents - please note that you are required to bring your child to the JJ Pickle Research Center at 8:00 AM and pick them up after the lab tour and drop them off at the main campus for the lectures at 10:00 AM. We recognize that this can be an inconvenience for parents and we understand if your child has to skip the lab tour.

 

 

Snacks & Lunch:

We will provide Donuts/Cookies for snacks and Pizza (we will have vegetarian options) for lunch. Water and juice will be provided as well.

What to Bring:

We must have the attached form signed by Parents/Guardian for the child to attend the workshop. Please bring the form on Day 1 at the time of check-in.
