Invited talk on “Redefinition of International System of Units (SI): A perspective ”
To celebrate IEEE Day, the Department of Electronic Science, University of Delhi South Campus with the support of IEEE Electron Device Society Delhi Chapter organized an Invited Talk on “Redefinition of International System of Units (SI): A perspective” on 4th October 2024 at Room No-115, Arts Faculty Building, University of Delhi South Campus, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi, Delhi, 110021.
IEEE Day celebrates the first time in history when engineers worldwide gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884. On this IEEE Day Occasion, Sr. Professor Mridula Gupta, SRC Vice Chair R10, EDS, IEEE has presented the brief journey of IEEE since 1984 with the participants. She also discussed networking opportunities, career development tools, and many other exclusive benefits of IEEE members.
To celebrate IEEE day, this invited talk by Dr. Ojha was designed to provide the journey from early measurement system to the International System of Units (SI) and further to the present redefined International System of Units (SI), implemented worldwide since May 20, 2019, a turning point for modern life to be possible. Further, Dr. Ojha discussed about the definitions of these redefined International System of Units (SI) based on the fundamental constants; how they are realised world over in the National Measurement Institutes (NMI). The importance of these units in metrology (science of measurement and its applications), their dissemination to the various organisations (namely: government, non-government, academia, research and development, science and technology institute, industries etc) for quality research and innovations; product and processes and global trade.
The Invited Talk was attended by total 70 participants including 15 IEEE members. The eminent speaker for this program was Dr. V. N. Ojha Ex. Chief Scientist CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, India.
