Process Safety Management from a Controls Perspective
The presentation, previously presented to Baton Rouge chapters of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and AIChE, is designed for a general audience. It introduces Process Safety Management (PSM) with a brief discussion about why facilities have adopted this lifesaving practice. PSM’s “technobabble” terms are decoded with straightforward definitions. This includes a tour through methods of hazard identification and protection analysis. The presentation then moves into the application of Safety Instrumented Systems and relates its architectures to equipment configurations used with process controls automation.
