Abstract

In our current Internet era and electronics world, cryptocurrency and smart contracts are used abundantly, which include online games, gambling services, copyright management, cryptocurrency trading & investments, financial contract execution, healthcare management, insurance, international and domestic trade, logistics administration, non-fungible token (NFT), real estate, rental services, supply chain management, etc. Based on this focus, this presentation introduces information on the most frequent cyber-attack cases and essential network security technologies, and explains hash functions, encryption, and core technologies used in modern blockchain services. This presentation especially covers the details of the Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchains. Because Bitcoin is the first original cryptocurrency and Ethereum is the first original smart contract, and both have the highest value and popularity, this presentation is focused on these two services. This presentation is based on Dr. Chung’s recent industry and government projects, journal papers, and patents as well as his new book “Emerging Secure Networks, Blockchains & Smart Contract Technologies” published by Springer Nature ©2024 (ISBN 9783031658655, link).
