A Field Demonstration on 'Sewage Treatment Plant'

Field Visit Report

Date: October 5, 2024
Location: Sewage Treatment Plant, RGMCET, Nandyal

Purpose: To observe and understand the wastewater treatment process.

Introduction:
On October 5, 2024, Students have visited the Sewage Treatment Plant, on the eve of IEEE Day Celebrations. The purpose was to gain practical insight into the wastewater treatment process.

Objectives:

1. To understand the primary and secondary treatment processes.
2. To observe the sludge handling and disposal methods.
3. To identify potential areas for improvement.

Observations:

Physical Layout:
The plant is divided into primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment sections.

Equipment/Processes:

1. Primary Clarifiers: Efficiently removing suspended solids.
2. Secondary Treatment Tanks: Showing signs of corrosion.
3. Sludge Handling: Adequate, with proper drying and disposal.

Findings/Insights:

1. Importance of regular maintenance.
2. Corrosion issues require attention.
3. Efficient sludge handling reduces environmental impact.

Conclusion:
The field visit provided valuable hands-on experience, enhancing my understanding of wastewater treatment processes.
