IEEE Day Inter-College Ideathon Competition
The IEEE SPSU team organized a pre-IEEE Day event titled the "Inter-College IEEE Ideathon 2024." To ensure smooth and efficient management of the event, the IEEE core committee divided its members into sub-teams, each responsible for different aspects of the competition. The Ideathon's theme, “Solving Real-world Problems with Innovative Business Solutions,” aimed to foster an environment conducive to interdisciplinary problem-solving. Engineering colleges from around Udaipur participated, showcasing their best teams and ideas in the final round.
The SPSU team's virtual preliminary round served as the basis for the final round selection process, requiring participating teams to submit their ideas using a presentation template. This template was specially designed to capture the essence of the teams' innovative concepts and the market research that supported the potential of their solutions.
Participants were instructed to report at 10:00 a.m., and after all the teams had gathered in the lecture theater, they were guided to the SPSU campus football field. There, they were warmly welcomed by SPSU faculty, the IEEE team, and members of the SPSU Flash Club, all of whom were eagerly awaiting the IEEE-themed photoshoot. This photoshoot featured creative designs and logos crafted by the Decoration and Media Department of the IEEE SPSU team. The photos symbolized the unity and diversity fostered by the competition, aligning with IEEE’s mission of “Advancing Technology for Humanity.”
The event officially commenced at 11:30 a.m., with four faculty members from SPSU serving as judges for the competition. The IEEE Chair opened the proceedings with a formal introduction to the IEEE SPSU branch and shared insights into how the event was conceptualized. Following this, the event hosts explained the competition format to the participants, detailing that each presentation would be divided into two segments: a 4-minute presentation followed by a 3-4 minute question-and-answer session.
A total of 36 teams, comprising approximately 144 participants from various branches, had qualified for the final round. Teams were evaluated on their presentation skills, business model approach, and the innovative nature of their solutions. Refreshments were provided to the students during the event. After a series of dynamic presentations, the judges' score sheets were reviewed and analyzed by the IEEE Chair and Co-Chair.
Teams from other colleges were formally escorted back by committee members, while the remaining students and judges were addressed by the IEEE Chair with a vote of thanks. This provided an opportunity for participants to share their thoughts and ideas and offer inclusive feedback on the event. As the teams eagerly awaited the results, the score sheets were carefully reviewed by the IEEE SPSU faculty counselors, who finalized the winners.
The results were announced as follows:
- 🏆 First Place: Mayank Kumawat from GITS with the project "Next in."
- 🥈 Second Place: Jahnavi Dave from SPSU with the project "CuraTech."
- 🥉 Third Place: Manish Sahu from GITS with the project "ECO-Hustlers."
The winning teams were invited to their formal felicitation ceremony on October 1st, during the IEEE Day Celebration at SPSU. The event concluded with a sense of accomplishment and appreciation among the IEEE team as they looked forward to the next major event—IEEE Day.
