Workshop Series Introduction

This workshop is one of a series of workshops that aim to enhance understanding of data modeling processes for those interested in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Specifically, it is designed to prepare participants for the first edition of the upcoming IEEEModelthon 1.0 on Kaggle.

Workshop Overview

In this workshop, you will learn about different types of data sources, methods of reading them, and how to represent them in their final form to be ready for further data exploration in the next stage.

Purpose

Primarily, it will cover reading data from relational databases, data in tabular format (csv, Excel, tsv, etc.), and web scraping. This workshop is ideal for beginners to intermediate learners eager to understand the initial steps of the data science process.

Objective and Outcome

This workshop is essential for anyone in a data-driven field. It introduces methods for reading data of various types from their sources, whether from relational databases, websites (web scraping), text from an article, Excel file, etc., and representing it in its final form so that it is ready for processing in the next step.
