IEEEXTREME18.0 BOOTCAMP : Introduction to competitive programming ; from experience to competition
The IEEE CS ENIS SBC, IEEE ENIS SB, IEEE ISETDjerba SB, along with IEEE Tunisia Section, IEEE ENIS SB, IEEE ISETDjerba SB, IEEE Palestine Section, IEEE PPU SB, IEEE YP AG Lebanon Section, IEEE Ecuador Section, IEEE USFQ SB, IEEE Jordan Section, IEEE YU SB, IEEE HU SB, IEEE EJUST SB, IEEE UoT SB, IEEE Strathmore, IEEE Region 8, and IEEE Region 9, launched the IEEE Xtreme 18.0 Bootcamp with an inaugural session titled IEEE Xtreme 18.0 Bootcamp: Introduction to Competitive Programming – From Experience to Competition. This initial session provided a global audience with insights into competitive programming and problem-solving. The online event was highly interactive, designed to immerse attendees from around the world in foundational concepts and strategies. Led by Eng. Mazen Othman, an Egyptian expert in the field, the session not only introduced key topics but also involved real-time problem-solving exercises. Participants actively engaged with the mentor as they collaboratively worked through various online problems, gaining hands-on experience and receiving immediate feedback. This interactive approach set a strong foundation for participants, empowering them to explore competitive programming with confidence. The bootcamp’s impact extends beyond technical skills, fostering a global community of learners and bridging gaps between beginners and experienced competitors.

Biography:
Eng. Mazen Othman is a highly accomplished Problem Solving Instructor at Instant, known for his impactful contributions to the field of competitive programming and problem-solving. His global achievements include ranking among the Top 100 in the 2023 Solution Challenge Competition, reaching the finals of the Egyptian Collegiate Programming Contest (ECPC) in both 2021 and 2022, and earning a spot as the 31st-ranked competitor in Egypt during IEEE Xtreme 16.0. Demonstrating a commitment to mentorship and leadership, he founded the IEEE Future Academy Student Branch and served as both an ambassador and technical support for IEEE Xtreme 17.0, where he guided aspiring programmers. His influence also extends through his roles as a leader of various student clubs focused on problem-solving. Among his notable accolades, Eng. Mazen achieved second place nationally in the 2022 Hult Prize Challenge and has consistently ranked highly in local Solution Challenge competitions, further establishing his dedication and expertise in fostering the next generation of problem solvers.
