World Ozone Day “Ozone for Life”

On the occasion of World Ozone Day, a poster presentation competition was organized by Uttaranchal University) under the theme “Ozone for Life” to raise awareness about the importance of ozone layer and its protection. The event took place on September 16, 2024, aligning with the global observance of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. The competition aimed to engage students in a creative dialogue about the significance of the ozone layer, which acts as Earth's protective shield against harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The event was graced by presence of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Director SALS. Participants from various courses created and presented posters that illustrated key messages about the importance of the ozone layer, the threats it faces from human activities, and the steps needed to protect it. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shivam Pandey and Dr. Sadhna Awasthi with student coordinators Vamasi Rajana, Dungo Meitei and Ishika Chaudhary. Dr. Ritu Painuli, Dr. Nidhi Mishra and Dr. Rohit Sajwan were also present during the event and evaluated the posters. The winners were awarded certificates and prizes to encourage continued involvement in environmental conservation.
