Officer Reports

1) EYH report for 2024 and request for funding for 2025

See report in the media section of this event notice.

"Additionally, I wanted to make you aware of the other programs we have had going on in 2024 at EYH. This past spring, we held an EYH Cafe (9-12th grade) event called "Start Your STEM Engines" which involved learning the mechanics and techniques of radio-controlled cars. We also held our first-ever NSF-sponsored summer course on the topic of Bioengineering and Instrument Development led by the University of California, Irvine which was not only a TON of fun, but a great experience as determined by our pre- and post-survey results.

Upcoming we will be holding our first ever "Industry Exploration Series" event for the EYH College program, which provides undergraduate and graduate women the opportunity to explore careers in our local, richly diverse STEM industry. The event on Sept. 20 is at Northrop Grumman's facilities, where participants will be able to network with Northrop Grumman staff and learn more about their engineering and math-related careers. We are excited for the potential of engaging students with industry professionals, offering them invaluable insights into potential career paths, and fostering meaningful connections that could shape their futures in STEM.

Lastly, I am hopeful we can again apply for the support of IEEE for our conference event in March 2025. Please let me know if we can submit an inquiry of support and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!" (from EYH coordinator Liz)2) Senior and Fellow Promotion Project reports?

2)  WIE activity recognition

4) San Diego Section IEEE sponsorship (non-financial) of ISCMI 2025 - updates?

5) IEEE PES_PELS_IAS Chapter Event Planning Survey? On website yet?

6) Awards Banquet - nail down date and announce speaker and nominate awardees

7) Nominations for Section and Chapter officers

8) Life Members Affinity Group Petition underway
9) San Diego County Engineering Council - request for support

Dear Engineering Society Liaisons, Chairs, Presidents:

The San Diego County Engineering Council (SDCEC) is an umbrella non-profit organization of local engineering society chapters. Together we collectively host the San Diego Engineers Week (Eweek) Awards Banquet - Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Liberty Station Conference Center. The banquet is a way to honor local engineers, engineering societies and to celebrate advances in engineering and technology. Engineers and the engineering society chapter leaders are the celebrities for the evening.

We have worked hard to maintain the same sponsorship levels over the last several years. We depend on your support to meet our overarching goals: (1) to bring the engineering society leaders, volunteers and members together, (2) to greatly subsidize the student ticket price, and (3) to break even. We can only do this with your support.

FOUNDER BANQUET/SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE -The “Founders Package” is the sponsorship level for the nonprofit local Engineering Society Chapters and is $500. See attached sponsorship letter. This includes three primary elements: (1) Sponsorship Fee, (2) Banquet Tickets, and (3) Promotional Items.

Sponsorship Fee - The package adds an additional $100 over the price of the banquet tickets. This added fee helps to cover the costs of the heavily subsidized student tickets. If your budget is too small to afford this amount, we will find a level that works. If your organization can afford more, we encourage you to be generous and donate at a larger level. The Council's goal is to break even each year.

Banquet Tickets - The package includes 8 dinner tickets ($50 each, at below cost this year). If you need more tickets, or less, we can customize a sponsorship package for you. The expectation is that you will fill the seats with your officers, executive council, volunteers, members, students, and/or guests. Some organizations cover the cost in full, some subsidize ticket costs and have members pay them back. Some send their entire executive council. Some cross-advertise to their members. Any open tickets can be donated back to the Council to help fill student and/or volunteer needs.

Reception Display Table - is an additional $30. You can decide today, or let us know by Feb 1 if you would like to add on the display table. It is the perfect opportunity to engage with your college sections to have them help join you in staffing the display.

Promotional Items - When you sponsor, (1) your organization is listed on the Join/Societies page. (2) You may add an optional short video promoting your section or society. (3) You sponsor an Engineering Legend representative of your organization. We have several legends for you to choose from, you may also suggest a new legend, with council approval, prior to Jan 1. We must have enough time to create a profile.

PLEDGE - Once your organization has approved the sponsorship level in your budgets, please send an email to Sponsorship@sandiegoengineers.org with your pledge level. Once your pledge is in, we will list you on the Banquet/Sponsors page. You can request an invoice, clarify payment options, and follow up items such as your selected legend, etc. Thank you to our first three sponsors: ASME, SHPE and ASM who have already pledged. Beautiful!

Respectfully,

Debra Kimberling, President@SanDiegoEngineers.org

Ken Discenza, Treasurer@sandiegoengineers.org
