This presentation explores cutting-edge advancements in sensor fusion techniques designed to enhance the performance of autonomous vehicles (AVs) in adverse weather conditions. It examines the effects of various weather conditions on multimodal sensors, including RGB cameras, LiDAR, and radar, to optimize AV perception systems. Additionally, the talk highlights the application of multimodal sensors deployed on ground vehicles and UAVs, emphasizing their potential in critical infrastructure monitoring and related fields.

Biography:

Dr. Marzieh Amini is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information Technology at Carleton University. Her research interests include computer vision, remote sensing, autonomous vehicles, sensor fusion, and biomedical signal processing. Dr. Amini serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Circuits, Systems and Signal Processing and Franklin Open (Elsevier). She is the Vice Chair of Women in Engineering for the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society and will join the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society Board of Governors in January 2025. She is a Senior member of IEEE and is the chair of the IEEE Ottawa Industry Relations.
