Introduction to IEEE Communication Society
Dr Anindya Saha introduced the importance of Communication Engineering and its trends in real time application. The session was thrusting on the 5G technology and its applications in Mobile Application. The students were interactive and participative throughout the session. The session also presented the future plans and events for the last quarter of the IEEE ComSoc Society 2024.
Biography:
Dr. Anindya Saha is the Chair of the IEEE Communication Society. Dr. Saha brings with him nearly 28 years of extensive experience in the field of telecommunications, and he currently serves as the Vice President of Wireless at Tejas Networks. He is a specialist in Software Defined Radios (SDR) and 5G technologies, where he has played a pivotal role in the design and development of Baseband and RF systems. Prior to his current role, Dr. Saha was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at SaankhyaLabs, where he led groundbreaking innovations in wireless communication products. His visionary leadership helped shape some of the most advanced solutions in the industry. With more than 40 patents to his name, Dr. Saha's contributions have been widely recognized. Notably, he received the prestigious "Hall of Fame" award from TSDSI for his contributions to Broadcast Broadband Convergence. His work has not only influenced the commercial sector but also advanced the frontiers of wireless communication. Dr. Saha remains deeply involved in global standardization efforts. He is actively engaged in bodies such as 3GPP, ORAN, and TSDSI, where his insights contribute to shaping the future of communication technologies. As the Chair of the IEEE Communication Society, Bangalore Chapter, he continues to lead and inspire advancements in the field.

Dr. Megha P. Arakeri introduced the importance of Artificial Intelligence and its importance as career to the students. The session was highlighting the impact of Python as basic course for the CIS. The students were interactive and participative throughout the session. The session also presented the future plans and events for the last quarter of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society 2024.
Biography:
Dr. Megha P. Arakeri, Chair of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. Dr. Megha earned her Ph.D. from NITK, Surathkal, in 2013 and is currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology, Bangalore. With 20 years of teaching and research experience, she has made significant contributions to the field of computational intelligence and computer science. Dr. Megha has an impressive academic record, with over 60 publications in reputed international conferences and journals, along with 9 book chapters to her name, and 592 citations to her credit. She is currently serving as the Vice Chair of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Bangalore Section, and holds a global position within the IEEE Educational Activities Board. In her leadership roles, she served as Chair of IEEE CIS in 2022 and 2023, during which IEEE CIS received global recognition, including the ‘Outstanding Chapter Award’ for its exceptional contributions in industry interactions, community service, and high-impact technical activities. Dr. Megha’s contributions have earned her numerous accolades, such as the IEEE Distinguished Speaker Award, the WIE Pre-university Champion Award, and the Ethics Championship Award. Recently, she was recognized as “Best Faculty of the Year - 2024” by the CSI Mumbai Chapter for her excellence in funded research projects. Additionally, she has been acknowledged as a mentor for young faculty by the IEEE India Council. Her research interests include Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, and Data Analytics. She has also worked on several funded research and consultancy projects and is an active member of professional bodies like IETE, CSI, ISTE, and IAENG

Dr Sumit Soman, Chair IEEE Sensor Council and Senior Data Scientist at Ericsson’s Global AI Accelerator, specializing in Generative AI, machine learning optimization, and health informatics. With a PhD from IIT Delhi in Computer Science, Dr. Soman has established himself as a thought leader in the fields of AI and telecommunications, contributing significantly to cutting-edge technologies and research. Over the course of his career, Dr. Soman has authored over 20 journal publications and 35 conference papers, making his work highly regarded in the academic community. His expertise has led to the filing of 12 patents, with one already granted, underscoring his innovative approach to problem-solving in telecom AI and machine learning. Dr. Soman's achievements have earned him recognition as a Chair of the IEEE Sensor Council, Bangalore Chapter, and he has been a driving force behind the advancement of sensor technologies and machine learning applications. His outstanding work has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Director General CDAC Young Innovator Award, which recognizes his significant contributions to health informatics and telecom AI. At Ericsson, Dr. Soman has been instrumental in developing AI-driven solutions, particularly in 5G networks and telecom use-cases. His work has focused on large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and advanced data science applications that are shaping the future of telecommunications. He has also played a key role in industry standardization efforts, contributing to platforms such as Ericsson’s Language Intelligence (ELI) and AI pair programming for telecom. With his blend of academic rigor, innovative research, and practical applications in industry, Dr. Soman is a distinguished expert whose contributions continue to push the boundaries of telecom AI and sensor technology

Biography:
Dr. Veena S Chakravarthi, Chair of the IEEE Nano Technology Council. Dr. Veena S Chakravarthi is an accomplished SoC Architect with extensive expertise in low-power SoC designs, ranging from concept to production. She has a distinguished career, achieving firstpass silicon success in high-speed SoC designs and leading technical teams across key domains such as Bluetooth, WLAN, IoT, and high-performance communication processors. Currently, she serves as the Director of Research and Engineering at LeadSOC Technologies, Bangalore. With a PhD in Low Power VLSI, Dr. Chakravarthi possesses a deep understanding of chip architecture, micro-architecture, RTL Verilog coding, and ASIC methodologies. Throughout her career, she has made significant contributions to the semiconductor industry, from successful ASIC development to managing R&D labs and product releases for both internal and external customers. She has also authored several books, including the widely-used "A Practical Approach to VLSI System on Chip (SoC) Design," and has an upcoming publication on SoC solutions for emerging domains. Dr. Chakravarthi’s innovations have led to the filing of seven patents, with five focusing on healthcare technologies and two in VLSI domains. Her roles in leading organizations such as Mindtree Consulting, Centillium, and Transwitch India have earned her recognition as one of the top SmartTechies by Silicon India. In addition to her industry success, she has actively contributed to academia, mentoring PhD scholars and serving as Research Head at BNM Institute of Technology. As a senior IEEE member and past Chair of the IEEE Nanotech Council, Bangalore Section, Dr. Chakravarthi continues to influence the fields of VLSI and nanotechnology. Her dedication to technology, leadership, and education drives her ongoing contributions to both industry and academia.
