On 29 November, the IEEE UFRN Student Branch hosted the IEEE UFCG Student Branch, which visited the facilities of the Edmond and Lily Safra International Neuroscience Institute at the Santos Dumont Institute and participated in moments of integration with the IEEE UFRN Student Branch.

The day began with a technical visit to learn about the applications of engineering in medicine and biology. The electrical engineering students were able to observe the changes that neuroengineering has made in research and in the lives of patients in the rural area of the city of Macaíba.

The visit lasted about two hours and the students visited the Neurorehabilitation and Neuroengineering Laboratories, the Brain Electrode Construction Laboratory, the Brain Machine Interface and Human Electrophysiology Laboratory, the Tissue Processing Laboratory, the Molecular Neurobiology Laboratory and the Microscopy Laboratory. Research areas range from basic biology to electronics and genetic engineering.

In the afternoon, the students took part in the inauguration of a new student branch, this time at the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte. This was an important moment to share experiences, collaborate and promote IEEE to the students and teachers of the institution that will host another Student Branch.

In the afternoon, the volunteers of the IEEE UFRN and UFCG Student Branches also had a moment of interaction, networking and bonding. Volunteers were able to share their projects and build partnerships.

This activity was an important step towards creating links and innovation communities among the Student Branches of the Northeast Brazil Section.
