  Speakers

Mr. Guylain Roy-MacHabee, CEO of the Rx Networks Inc. & Fhatom Systems Inc.

Topic:

The Location-Aware IoT

We all take instant positioning in the palm of our hands for granted. But ubiquitous, seamless outdoor and indoor positioning still remains a challenge for the industry, a challenge that will only grow as more IoT devices come online. This session will cover the evolution of location technologies and the transition of consumer devices positioning techniques into the broader IoT realm. We'll also explore how Fathom approaches this problem and the opportunities presented by using consumer technologies such as Bluetooth Low Energy in IoT location applications such as asset tracking, healthcare or location-based marketing.

Biography:

Entrepreneur. Engineer. Sailor. Adventure rider. A McGill engineer, Guylain got the entrepreneurial bug in the mid-90’s after his first glimpse into the convergence of mobile communications and location technologies while at Ericsson. Since 2005, he co-founded and led Rx Networks, a Vancouver-based venture-funded company. Rx Networks now enables device OEMs and mobile operators implement fast GPS positioning in more than a billion phones. With Fathom Systems Inc, a pending spin-off from Rx Networks, Guylain aims to bring pervasive indoor location, context and intelligence to the broader IoT market. Guylain and his wife live on their sailboat in beautiful Vancouver, BC.
