One day Field visit to APSPCL-KURNOOL UTRA MEGA SOLAR PARK (1000MW)
Santhiram Engineering College student’s Chapter (518) Electrical and Electronics department has organized a One day Field visit to APSPCL-KURNOOL UTRA MEGA SOLAR PARK (1000MW), Gani and Sakunala (Villages), Kurnool (Dist.), Andhra Pradesh on 24th August, 2024. This field visit is organized in Association with IEEE STUDENT BRANCH STB 17901 &IEEE POWER ELECTRONICS SOCIETY SBC 17901C. The aim of this visit is to provide the practical observations and knowledge on the different equipment employed in the Solar power station and the maintenances.
The Kurnool Solar Park is spread over a total area of 24 km2 (9.3 sq mi) in the Gani and Sakunala villages of Kurnool district. The park utilizes over 4 million solar panels with capacities of 315 Watts and 320 watts. The panels are connected to four 220/33 kV pooling stations of 250 MW each and a 400/220 kV grid substation through nearly 2,000 circuit kilometers (1,200 mi) of cables. During a sunny day, the Kurnool Solar Park is able to generate more than 8 Giga Watt - Hour of electricity, which is sufficient to meet virtually the entire electricity demand in Kurnool district. The students are visited the major equipment installed in the solar power station like Solar panels, DC-DC and DC-AC Converters, Power controlling equipment, electrical power transformer and controlling panels. The outcome of this program, such as the students can acquire the knowledge on Solar power station operation, DC-DC-AC converters, transformer operation, controlling the voltage and current level in the control room, maintenance & protection of panels. In this field visit, our B. Tech III and IV year I semester Electrical and Electronics Engineering students of 74 members along with two staff members have visited. The incharge of this are Mr. S. Seetharamudu and Mr. A. Raghavendra Prasad, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, SREC.
