Abstract:

5G technologies is promised to be the technology that is not only will increase coverage and data rate but also accelerate and enable new use cases and applications that would be difficult to be supported by 4G.

5G is expected to impact many areas in our lives such transportation, energy, public safety and drive greater efficiencies, safety and smartness. In the area of health, 5G will enables new possibilities in terms of health care including imaging, diagnostics, data analytics, and treatment that will bring consistent, reliable user experiences to improve medical care.

Austin is taking a lead in several fronts promoting 5G platform for research, trials, collaboration and education.

The talk will describe some of the key differences between 4G and 5G, 5G roadmap, and trials. How 5G, IoT, Virtualization and security will result in a powerful ecosystem to serve all markets. Ecosystem players will include public-private partnership (City, Universities & Researchers, Service Providers, equipment vendors, Utilities, 3rd parties, startups and others). Several use cases will be illustrated in key areas such as transportation, energy, public safety and health. These will all be part building smarter city.
