Session on "Role of Innovation & Opportunities in Hackathons
A special session on the Role of Innovation and Opportunities in Hackathons was conducted for the 3rd-year ECE students at Malineni Lakshmaiah Women's Engineering College on 28th december 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The session, organized by the IEEE Student Chapter, focused on how innovation and hackathons are crucial in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).
The session aimed to inspire students to explore the dynamic opportunities hackathons offer, especially for those in the ECE domain. Through discussions on the role of creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on experience, the speakers highlighted how hackathons provide a platform for students to showcase their technical skills, collaborate with peers, and develop real-world solutions. Additionally, students learned about the career-building advantages, such as networking, mentorship, and exposure to emerging technologies in ECE.
The event encouraged 3rd-year ECE students to participate actively in hackathons, which are invaluable for personal growth, innovation, and preparing for future challenges in the rapidly evolving tech industry.
Biography:
Atchuta Rajesh Sunkavalli is a Senior Project Manager at Infosys Ltd, based in Hyderabad, with over 19 years of experience in the IT industry. He is a PMP Certified professional and currently manages a team of 60+ members. Throughout his career, he has provided innovative solutions across diverse industry verticals, including Financial Services, Healthcare, and Utilities.
Rajesh holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Production and Industrial Engineering from GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, and an Executive MBA specializing in IT services from GITAM University, Hyderabad. He has also completed an Executive Education course in People Management from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. Furthermore, he is an active participant in the Infosys Great Manager Program offered by Cornell University.
Rajesh's passion for technology and its transformative potential drives his professional work. He is particularly interested in bridging the gap between Industry and Academia, fostering a culture of collaboration to create a better future. As part of his commitment to promoting innovation, Rajesh has served as a Jury member for the JNTU Hyderabad JHUB Hackathon since 2019.
In his early academic career, Rajesh showcased his technical prowess by presenting a paper at the International Conference on ICTACEM at IIT Kharagpur in 2004. This paper was later published in the Industrial Engineering Journal in 2006. Throughout his time at Infosys, he has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Global Trainer par Excellence award.
Rajesh is deeply involved in various employee clubs at Infosys, contributing to the cultural and environmental initiatives within the organization. These include:
- Eco Club: Advocating for environmentally friendly practices and raising awareness about sustainability.
- MANCH: A theatre club that performs plays, fostering creativity and performing arts.
- 24Frames: A club dedicated to making short films and exploring the world of cinema.
- Telugu Saahityam: A literary club focused on preserving and promoting the Telugu language and literature.
An amateur theatre artist, Rajesh has actively participated in numerous theatre plays, including those at the Telangana Yuva Naatakotsavam, Manch Mahotsav 2018 in Hyderabad, and Sumadhura Kalanikentan’s Comedy Play Competition in Vijayawada (2019). His passion for acting extends to his involvement in filmmaking, where he was part of the group that won the First Prize in the Maa TV Short Movie Contest in 2013. He also recently acted in a short film released on YouTube under the CAPDT 'Godavari Express' channel.
In addition to his professional and artistic contributions, Rajesh is an Environment Tower member of the Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HySEA), where he works to promote sustainability and environmental initiatives in the tech industry.
Through his multifaceted career, Rajesh exemplifies leadership, innovation, and a commitment to both professional excellence and social responsibility.
