SRM Institute of Science and Technology, School of Computing, Tiruchirappalli, successfully organized a two-day National Level Workshop on ARIES v3.0 (VEGA Processor) from November 5-6, 2024. 
Day 1: Hands-On with Sensors and the Aries v3.0 Development Board
Day one was all about diving into the technology, Students explored a range of sensors and modules, including ultrasonic sensors, piezo buzzers, lights, and dot matrix displays. The focus was on the Aries development board, powered by the Vega Processor—a robust 32-bit platform that holds its own against Arduino and similar boards. Students learned how to program the Aries board through the Arduino IDE and experimented with multiple communication protocols. This included interfacing an RFID sensor with the board and learning about the different Aries boards: Aries IoT, Aries Micro, Aries Dot, Aries Alpha, and Aries Nova. The day wrapped up with team assignments, each given a unique topic to present on the following day.
Day 2: Advanced Programming and IoT Applications
On day two, students elevated their coding skills, programming an OLED display to show animations, and interfacing the HC05 and Esp01 modules for Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. Using the ESP01’s WiFi capabilities, they connected to the Adafruit platform to simulate real-world IoT applications. Later, finally students presented their projects, incorporating creative spins on the topics assigned. Then workshop concluded with a rapid-fire technical quiz, followed by a prize distribution
