IEEE PES DAY 2024 Commemoration: Empowering Innovation in Electric Mobility

The project for a talk on electromobility for PES Day 2024 is being carried out due to the growing need to promote sustainable solutions in transportation. Electromobility offers a clean and efficient alternative to traditional vehicles, reducing pollution and mitigating climate change. This talk aims to raise awareness about the environmental, economic, and social benefits of adopting electric vehicles, as well as to encourage innovation and investment in the infrastructure needed for large-scale implementation. Promoting sustainability in transportation is essential to building a healthier and more resilient future for generations to come.

Topic:

Micromobility and sustainable development in cities of Ecuador: Ibarra case study

The topic "Micromobility and Sustainable Development in Cities of Ecuador: Ibarra Case Study" focuses on how micromobility solutions—such as bicycles, e-scooters, and other small, eco-friendly transportation options—contribute to sustainable urban development. The study analyzes the city of Ibarra, highlighting its challenges and opportunities in integrating micromobility into urban planning. Key aspects include reducing traffic congestion, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and enhancing accessibility for residents. The case study also explores policy recommendations, infrastructure needs, and the potential for micromobility to support Ecuador’s broader sustainability goals while fostering an inclusive and efficient urban transport system.

Topic:

Towards Sustainable Mobility: Comparative Analysis of the Life Cycle between Electric and Internal Combustion Vehicles i

The presentation "Towards Sustainable Mobility: Comparative Analysis of the Life Cycle between Electric and Internal Combustion Vehicles" examined the key differences in the environmental impact of both types of vehicles throughout their life cycle. Stages such as production, use, and recycling were analyzed, highlighting how electric vehicles (EVs) have a lower carbon footprint during use due to the absence of direct emissions. The challenges associated with battery manufacturing were also addressed, including the consumption of resources like lithium and the impact of mining processes. On the other hand, internal combustion vehicles were compared, noting their higher operational emissions but lower complexity in recycling. The presentation emphasized the importance of advancing toward more sustainable technologies to reduce the environmental impact of transportation.
