Celebrating 140 years of excellence, IEEE stands as the world’s largest technical organization dedicated to  Advancing Technology for Humanity. Serving over 460,000 members in more than 160 countries,  IEEE also caters to the general public’s needs and interests. The vast scope of IEEE can feel like the story of the six blind men describing an elephant, each with a different perspective. This presentation aims to simplify this complexity by breaking down IEEE’s structure and highlighting the unity within "One IEEE,” thus, members and non-members alike will discover pathways to leverage IEEE's resources. The critical roles of  IEEE regions, sections, and societies, as well as the immense contributions of volunteers in shaping today’s and tomorrow’s world, will be emphasized, showcasing their importance in the pursuit of professional excellence.

Biography:

Bala Prassana’s professional career of over 35 years includes working in institutions like SUNY-State University of New York, AT&T, and IBM in various roles in senior technical and management positions. He volunteers his time at IEEE- Region 1 as a member of the Board of Governors. He has also served as a board member at IEEE-USA during 2016-17.  Mr. Prasanna is proud to be a member of the IEEE HKN Honor Society.
