IEEE ComSoc,Kolkata Chapter associated with ECE Department, Narula Institute Of Technology in organizing a webinar on ‘Adopting AI in industry’ alongwith IETE Student Forum on 15th September, 2024 at 5:00 p.m in online mode.

The Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering hosted an insightful webinar on "Adopting AI in Industry," which saw the participation of 50 students. The session was led by Mr. Subhamoy Chakraborti, the Chief Technology Officer at ABP Pvt Ltd.

Speaker Profile:

Mr. Subhamoy Chakraborti brings a wealth of experience to the field of technology. As the Chief Technology Officer at ABP Pvt Ltd, he oversees the company's IT strategy, which includes Digital, Analytics, SAP, Infrastructure, and Information Security. With a career spanning 20 years, Mr. Chakraborti hasheld significant roles at Magma Fincorp as Head of Digital, and has consulted for multiple Fortune 100 companies during his tenure at Wipro, Cognizant, and Oracle. He is also a Senior Member of IEEE, serving as the Chairman of the IEEE Communications Society Kolkata Chapter, a member of the IEEE Kolkata Chapter Executive Committee, and the Chairman of the Industry Academia collaboration Committee. Mr. Chakraborti is an alumnus of Jadavpur University and the Indian Statistical Institute and has pursued Executive Education at The Wharton School.

Webinar Highlights:  Prof. Kaushik Sarkar, Head of the ECE Department, emphasized the significance of AI in today's industry and the relevance of the webinar. Dr. Sangita Roy, Associate Professor, introduced the speaker and set the stage for the session.

Dr. Sandhya Pattanayak, Associate Professor, extended a warm welcome to Mr. Chakraborti, highlighting the importance of the webinar for the students.

Keynote Address:

Mr. Subhamoy Chakraborti delivered an in-depth discussion on the adoption of AI in various industries. His presentation covered practical insights into how AI can be leveraged to drive innovation and efficiency within the industry.

Following the keynote address, a lively Q&A session allowed students to engage with Mr. Chakraborti, asking questions and gaining further insights into AI applications.

Dr. Roy proposed a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the speaker's valuable contribution and the enthusiastic participation of the students. The event concluded on a high note, with participants expressing eagerness to explore future opportunities in the field of AI

Biography:

As the Chief Technology Officer at ABP Group, one of the largest media houses in India, I lead the digital transformation of print media and allied digital businesses. With over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, I have successfully launched multiple B2B, B2C, and B2E platforms that enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and revenue generation.

I also manage the internal IT functions, including SAP, IT infrastructure, information security, network, and analytics, and oversee the IT modernization, HR tech, advertisement booking system, and MIS revamp projects. My core competencies include IT strategy, product engineering, business transformation, analytics, large program management, and enterprise architecture. I have a master's degree in computer science from Indian Statistical Institute and I am currently pursuing the CTO program from Wharton. I have also completed executive education programs from Harvard Business School and Indian Institute of Management, and obtained multiple certifications and publications in the IT domain.

In addition to my technical and business skills, I am passionate about building industry and academia relations and fostering innovation and collaboration. I am the chair of IEEE ComSoc Kolkata Chapter and the joint secretary of INFOCOM, the largest technology and business conference in India. I have also received several awards and recognitions, including CIO Power List, IDG CIO 100, and Best Use of Mobile Technology in Financial Services. My mission is to leverage technology to create value and impact for the media industry and the society at large.
