Professor Amlan Chakrabarti is a distinguished academic and researcher, currently serving as a Full Professor at the A.K.Choudhury School of Information Technology, University of Calcutta. With an impressive background, including a M.Tech. from the University of Calcutta anddoctoral research at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, Professor Chakrabarti has also held a Post-Doctoral fellowship at Princeton University. His contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, such as the BOYSCAST Fellowship, INSA Visiting Faculty Fellowship, JSPS Invitation Research Award, Erasmus Mundus Leaders Award, and the Hamied Visiting Professorship from the University of Cambridge. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM, a Distinguished Speaker of ACM, and holds key positions in various professional
organizations.

Biography:

Prof. Amlan Chakrabarti

Prof. Amlan Chakrabarti is a distinguished Full Professor in the A.K.Choudhury School of Information Technology at the University of Calcutta. He holds an M.Tech. degree from the University of Calcutta and completed his Doctoral research at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. Prof. Chakrabarti was a Post-Doctoral fellow at the School of Engineering, Princeton University, USA, during 2011-2012.

Throughout his career, Prof. Chakrabarti has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and fellowships, including:

  • Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India BOYSCAST Fellowship Award in Engineering Science (2011)
  • Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Visiting Faculty Fellowship (2014)
  • Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Invitation Research Award (2016)
  • Erasmus Mundus Leaders Award from the EU (2017)
  • Hamied Visiting Professorship from the University of Cambridge (2018)
  • Siksha Ratna Award by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal (2018)

Prof. Chakrabarti has received multiple project grants in areas such as Security in Cyberphysical Systems, Embedded System Design, VLSI Design, Quantum Computing, Computer Vision, and Data Science from various national and international agencies, including DST, DRDO, MeitY, UGC, DAE, Ministry of Social Empowerment, WB-DST, TCS, and Intel India, among others.

He is a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM, a Distinguished Speaker of ACM, Secretary of the IEEE CEDA India Chapter, Vice President of the Data Science Society, and a Life Member of CSI India.

Prof. Chakrabarti's research and presentations focus on cutting-edge topics such as Machine Learning for IoT Analytics, Task Scheduling and Hardware Design in Reconfigurable Space, and Quantum Computing. His work emphasizes the application of machine learning methods to IoT data, efficient scheduling and mapping strategies for reconfigurable systems, and the potential of quantum computing for accelerated and secure computing.
