Generative AI in Legal Research
The presentation discusses the possibility of the use of AI, specifically machine learning methods, in legal research. The growing availability of data in the form of judicial decisions or decisions of other state authorities, including contractual agreements, introduces the need to implement methods that help legal experts to better understand the law and its continuous development. In this regard, we will provide specific case studies where machine learning methods were successfully implemented to analyse legal text to identify, e. g., the emerging decision-making practices of competent authorities. We will also demonstrate several approaches for document retrieval, information extraction and anomaly detection using a mix of statistical techniques and transformer-based language models.
