IEEE Technical Seminar: Basics of Quantum Information and Computation

Quantum Information and Computation lies at the cross roads of various independent fields of studies like Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics and Information Theory. The discovery that quantum physics allows fundamentally new modes of information processing and computing.  Subsequently the classical theories of computation, information and cryptography has been superseded by their quantum generalizations. These hold out the promise of faster computation and more secure communication than is possible classically. In this talk I will try to cover some of  these aspects which makes quantum computing and information processing special and also about the milestones we have achieved in this domain
