Introducion To Robotics Design
The IEEE Student Branch at Palestine Polytechnic University organized a training workshop titled Introduction to Robotics Design from February 9 to February 11, 2025, with a duration of three hours per day. The workshop aimed to:
Introduce students to the field of robotics by integrating it with programming and artificial intelligence.
Teach how to use and program Arduino boards.
Introduce students to sensors, their types, and how to use them.
Explain the types of motors and how to utilize them in robot design.
Train participants to control robots via mobile phones using Bluetooth technology.
Equip students with the skills to design and assemble a fully integrated robot.
The workshop covered several key topics, starting with an introduction to Arduino boards, providing a detailed explanation of how they work and how to write programming codes for them. It also addressed sensors, discussing their different types, uses, and methods of integration into robot designs. Furthermore, the workshop covered motors, their various types, properties, and how to use them to achieve precise and integrated movements in robots. Participants also learned how to design an algorithm that enables controlling the robot remotely using a mobile phone and Bluetooth technology, applying the knowledge gained to connect and control the robot.
At the end of the workshop, participants assembled and prepared the robot to function effectively, allowing them to apply all the skills they had learned during the sessions. This workshop contributed to enhancing students' understanding of robotics by providing a practical experience that complemented their theoretical knowledge. It also supported participants in developing logical thinking and teamwork skills.
The organizers recommended repeating such practical workshops to enhance students' skills in technological fields and expand their scope to include advanced topics such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. The Introduction to Robotics Design workshop achieved notable success, providing students with a strong foundation in robot design and programming, paving the way for specialization and development in this advanced field.

How to control a robot in the form of a small car via the phone for autonomous control.
On the first day, he discussed the Arduino board, explained its functions, inputs, and outputs, and talked about how to write a program code to control it.
On the second day, he talked about the main components used in designing and operating robots, explained the types of sensors, their uses, and how they work, as well as motors and how to deal with them.
Finally, he explained how to use Bluetooth technology to control a simple robot. On the third and final day, he assembled the parts of the two-wheel-drive robot car and developed an algorithm for the program code to operate the car. In the end, the robot was controlled in two ways: first via a mobile phone and second autonomously.
