Seminar: Power System Optimization for Large-Scale Renewable Energy Integration: Confronting Intractability and Uncertainty
Abstract
This presentation explores approaches to address computational intractability and uncertainty modeling in power system optimization, particularly in the context of large-scale renewable energy integration. It covers four key topics: topology optimization of offshore wind farms, risk assessment of renewables-dominated power systems, energy storage siting and sizing, and multi-stage low-carbon transition. These topics represent key challenges in power system optimization, including intractability in large-scale scenarios and integer programming, as well as uncertainty in short-term renewable generation and long-term carbon prices. To address these challenges, the presentation introduces solutions and methodologies, with practical algorithms and techniques for each topic. These approaches are validated through case studies and experimental results. Finally, the speaker will discuss common methodologies and share insights on power system modeling and optimization.
