With 80 student members and 10 professional members, Hindustan University has established an IEEE photonics society student chapter at its campus. The main motto behind establishing the Student Branch at Hindustan institute of technology and science is to provide a platform to the students where they can interact with their peer group from around the section and also with the professional members from around the globe. Several activities that would help the students in fostering their core knowledge and at the same time nurture their leadership and managerial skills are being planned as part of the academic year.

Student chapter leaders and staff can help students of undergrad, graduate and post-doc, to get the most out of their membership proposals to support. It will be helpful for department to get funded project in mission of advancing technology for the benefit of society.

Biography:

Dr.Subash is an academic veteran, technocrat cum avid researcher, Mentor, Innovation and 
Entrepreneurship cell. He is currently a Full time professor, Department of Electronics and 
Communication Engineering & Dean, Research & Development of VISAT Engineering College, 
Ernakulam, Kerala, India. He was elected to a three-year term serving on the Board of Governors 
for the IEEE Photonics Society (2024 -2026). He will join the Board in 2024 together with three 
other new worldwide-elected members. He is the first person from India to be elected to the 
Board of Governors of IEEE Photonics Society. This achievement is one of many in his young 
career. He is also serving as the IEEE Photonics Society Global Strategy Representative for India
from the year 2021.
He is the active senior member of IEEE and Founding Chairman of IEEE Photonics Society 
Madras Chapter till 2020.
To extend his social community service activity, he has initiated to raise 2 new 
NCC (Army wing) units under 16K BN Kottayam at Mangalam campus & VISAT 
Campus in the year 2021 & 2022 respectively. He has also Successfully completed three 
months PRCN Course @ Officers Training Academy, Kamptee, Nagpur, India and 
commissioned as Associate NCC Officer with a rank of Lieutenant in the Army wing. 
He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication 
Engineering and Master of Engineering in Embedded System Technologies from Anna 
University, India in the year 2008 and 2011 respectively. He completed his PhD in 
Nanoelectronics from Anna University, Chennai in the year 2016. He enjoys teaching and 
research.
Dr.Subash has received the fellowship from Government of Japan to represent 
India for two weeks “Japan – Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (SAKURA 
Science Exchange Program)” which is promoted by Japan Science and Technology 
Agency (JST) during September, 2018. He also received travel grant & fellowship from 
IEEE Photonics Society, USA to attend the IEEE Photonics Conference held at San 
Antonio, Texas, USA during October, 2019.
He was the author of the book entitled “Organic and Inorganic Light Emitting 
Diodes: Reliability Issues and Performance Enhancement” published by CRC Press 
Taylor & Francis Group in the year 2023.
He has 93 publications in International and National Journals and 31 papers in 
International and National Conferences in the area of Nanoelectronics, Nanoscale Device 
Modelling, Nanotechnology and Wireless Sensor Networks. He also filed 4 patents to his 
credit. He is the recognized research supervisor of Anna University, Chennai and APJ 
Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. He serves as the active member of 
Editorial board/ reviewer board of various international Journals.
Dr.Subash has been invited to deliver more than 55 keynote speeches and invited 
talks across the world. He has also been active in professional bodies. He was the 
founding Chairman of IEEE Photonics Society Madras Chapter (2015 - 2019). He also 
served as the Secretary of IEEE MAS Young Professionals Madras Chapter from the year 
2014 to 2016. To his credit he was the founder IEEE student branch counsellor of 2 IEEE 
Student branches and advisor of 3 IEEE Student branches under IEEE Madras section. In 
recognition of his outstanding contributions to professional bodies, IEEE Madras section 
bestowed him with certificate of appreciation for organizing activities towards the 
advancement of IEEE and Engineering Professions during the year 2012. Under his 
leadership, IEEE Photonics Society Madras Chapter received Chapter of the year 
award for the year 2017, Largest Membership Increase award for the year 2019 & 
Most Innovative Chapter award for the year 2020 from IEEE headquarters, USA. 
Also under his leadership IEEE Photonics Society Student Chapter Mangalam 
College of Engineering received the Most Improved Chapter award in the year 2021. Due 
to his outstanding contributions in education, research, administration and professional 
services, his biography was listed along with the World professional biographies @ 
Marquis Who’s Who in the World (33rd Edition, 2016) United States of America and 
also listed along with 2000 outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st century -9
th EditionInternational Biographical Centre, Cambridge, United Kingdom, 2016.
He has chaired many sessions in international conferences in India & abroad. He 
is the Organizing Chair of 5NANO series of IEEE International Conferences cosponsored 
by IEEE Photonics Society, USA hosted in India.
He is very Active IEEE Volunteer for last 14 plus years, worked at regional, 
council, section level, subsection, branch level, above all counselor for regional and 
students’ group for IEEE activities and taking them to wonderful world of innovations 
through IEEE.
His passion is to connect bringing industry institutions and community at one 
place and bringing need-based innovations through technology for students by students. 
He has created awareness for entrepreneurship, start-ups and research.
