Blockchain Meetups have been the hallmark of Toronto since the early days of Bitcoin, famously leading to the birth of Ethereum. The IEEE Toronto local group of the Blockchain Technical Community (BCTC) is proud to continue the tradition of engineering-focused gathering where the builders of new protocols and apps are sharing knowledge, developing standards, and collaborating on disruptive industry solutions.

Going deeper into DePIN

Functionland is replacing centralized networks with a Blockchain-Attached Storage unit called FxBlox, and a suite of software protocols that power FxFotos, a photo storage and sharing dApp and FxFiles, a B2C File Manager and Utility dApp, via the Fula Network. Functionland is multichain oriented, and enables Web3 projects to realize their full potential by providing a truly decentralized backend as a service, developer incentives and fast, encrypted, and private data retrieval mechanisms. We are in the top 3% of projects on GitHub and backed by Protocol labs, Filecoin, Dfinity, Crust, and Outlier Ventures.

Biography:

Ehsan Shariati, founder at Functionland, studied electrical engineering and got his master's degree from University of Colorado at Boulder. He has been in tech for 20 years, and is experienced in multiple programming languages. He is also a project manager, and has PMP, ITIL and SCRUM certificates. MotoLedger – Trust and Transparency in Vehicle Lifecycle

The automotive industry faces challenges in verifying vehicle history, ownership records, and transaction transparency. MotoLedger is a blockchain-based platform designed to tackle these issues by securely storing vehicle lifecycle data, ensuring authenticity, and reducing fraud. This talk explores the technical architecture of MotoLedger, including smart contract design, decentralized identity verification, and integration with traditional vehicle registries. Attendees will gain insights into how blockchain can revolutionize vehicle ownership, streamline transfers, and enhance trust among buyers, sellers, and regulatory bodies.

Biography:

Shahla Nikbakht is a blockchain developer and researcher with a background in quantum physics, currently serving as a Research Associate at the York University Blockchain Lab. Her research focuses on real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, exploring how blockchain can be integrated into regulated financial systems to drive efficiencytransparency, and liquidity. Shahla’s expertise spans smart contractsdecentralized finance (DeFi)blockchain architecture, and navigating regulatory frameworks to ensure compliance and security in blockchain applications.
