User-centric Service Provision for Mobile Augmented Reality: A Data-oriented Approach
Abstract: Augmented reality (AR) can profoundly change our ways of living by delivering life-like experiences to users through communication networks. In this talk, we present the idea of user-centric service provision for mobile AR (MAR) to handle the uncertainty of individual user behaviors while satisfying unique requirements on the quality of multi-sensory experience. To this end, we propose a new data-oriented approach for network resource management, featuring personalized data management that can support network modeling tailored to different MAR user demands. Our approach leverages the digital twin technique as a key enabler. By establishing digital twins for individual users, we design a data life-cycle management architecture that can identify user-specific demands and facilitate user-centric service provision, particularly in AI-native networks. A trace-driven case study demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach in achieving user-centric MAR and highlights the significance of personalized data management in 6G.
