IEEE CTCN Monthly Meeting, Wednesday, October 25, 2017: "Embedded Non-Volatile Memories for Intelligent IoT"
Speaker: Dr. Betty Prince
Biography: Dr. Betty Prince is CEO of Memory Strategies International. She has also worked with Texas Instruments, NV Philips, Motorola, RCA and Fairchild. She is author of several books on memory technology including: Semiconductor Memories (1992), High Performance Memories (1999), 3D Vertical Memory Technologies (2014) (all John Wiley & Sons), and Emerging Memories - Technologies and Trends, (2002) (Springer). She is a Senior Life Member of the IEEE and has served as an IEEE SSCS Distinguished Lecturer. She founded the JEDEC JC-16 Interface Committee and was Co-Chair of the JC42.2 SRAM Standards Committee. She has served on the Technical Advisory Board of several memory companies and on the Board of Directors of Mosaid Technologies. She holds patents in the memory, processor and interface areas. She has a B.S. and M.S. in physics and math from UNM and U. of Calif., Berkeley, and an M.B.A and Ph.D. from UT with doctoral dissertation on fractal modeling.
Abstract: Betty will repeat her Keynote Presentation given at the Leading Edge Embedded NVM Workshop, held in Gardanne, France, in September. An Intelligent Internet of Things (IIoT) will require diverse embedded non-volatile memories (eNVM). eNVM is used in: wearable medical networks, car networks, smart home and building networks, traffic control networks and public utility networks. These, together with other networks, will form eventually smart interconnected cities using millions of processors with eNVM. Varieties of eNVM will be needed to satisfy the diverse requirements of these networks ranging from single poly EEPROMs to large 3D RRAM neuromorphic processors. eRRAM, eMRAM, eCBRAM, ePCM and eFeRAM with differing properties will also be needed.
